Test Files
A useful PNG test file isolates a specific variable. Do not use customer artwork as the first diagnostic file when a controlled test can determine whether the problem comes from the file, software, machine, or material.
Useful test-file content

| Known-size box and ruler | Scaling, aspect ratio, and placement errors |
| Fine lines and small text | Minimum reproducible detail and edge quality |
| Color and grayscale patches | Tone, clipping, neutrality, and workflow variation |
| Smooth gradients | Banding, screening, compression-independent tonal limits, and output transitions |
| Transparency edge samples | Halos, matte colors, partial-alpha behavior, and underbase handling |
| Registration marks | Print, fixture, and contour alignment |
| Solid coverage areas | Banding, missing output, adhesion, cure, and surface uniformity |
Label every test with its intended size, profile, revision, and expected result. Confirm that production software has not automatically resized or recolored it.
