Waste Reduction

Reduce waste by finding digital, setup, and material problems before the full production run. Waste includes rejected blanks, excess transfers, ink, energy, packaging, machine time, shipping replacements, and avoidable labor.

Prevent waste before production

  • Validate dimensions, transparency, resolution, placement, and revision digitally
  • Use the correct product template and material specification
  • Nest or tile artwork efficiently without violating spacing and production requirements
  • Use a lower-cost representative test material when it can validate the necessary variable
  • Confirm personalization and order quantity before output

Reduce waste during production

  • Verify the first unit before completing the order
  • Monitor machine condition and stop when output begins to drift
  • Use measured, validated settings rather than repeated guesswork
  • Separate reusable offcuts and recyclable waste where the material permits
  • Track defect causes by file, material, machine, setup, production, and handling

Use the findings

Review recurring defects and correct the underlying template, instruction, preset, maintenance, training, or supplier issue. Waste tracking is useful only when it changes the workflow.
