Challenges
i.Design
Design challenge: prepare one original artwork concept for two differently shaped products without distorting the design.
Requirements:
- Use the exact template for each product
- Preserve the intended composition while adapting placement
- Define bleed and safe areas where applicable
- Choose background and transparency intentionally
- Export separate correctly named PNGs
- Explain why one generic PNG would or would not work for both products
ii.File Preparation
File-preparation challenge: preflight a deliberately flawed PNG package and produce a corrected handoff.
Find and correct:
- Insufficient pixel dimensions
- Wrong aspect ratio or canvas size
- Unintended opaque background or edge halo
- Ambiguous filename and revision
- Missing product and placement information
- Missing companion file for a path-based operation
Submit the corrected PNG, retained source, handoff notes, and completed validation checklist.
iii.Production
Production challenge: convert an approved PNG package into a documented, repeatable production job using an authorized machine and suitable test material.
Demonstrate:
- Order and revision matching
- File, product, material, and equipment preflight
- Controlled placement and job setup
- First-unit or test-piece approval
- Recorded production and finishing settings
- Final inspection and disposition
- Safe operation under the equipment manufacturer's instructions
iv.Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting challenge: diagnose a supplied defect using evidence and one-variable-at-a-time testing.
Define
Write an objective defect statement and acceptance requirement.
Contain
Identify affected work and prevent release.
Classify
Choose the most likely file, software, machine, material, process, or inspection source.
Test
Design a controlled comparison that changes one relevant variable.
Correct
Apply the evidence-supported correction.
Verify
Produce a new acceptable result and update the preventive control.
