File Mistakes
File mistakes occur when the delivered PNG has the wrong technical properties, content, revision, or supporting information.
Common file mistakes
| Mistake | Result | Prevention |

| Too few pixels for final size | Soft, pixelated, or visibly reduced detail | Calculate required pixels before export |
| Changing only the PPI metadata | No new image detail is created | Evaluate actual pixel dimensions at output size |
| Wrong aspect ratio or dimensions | Stretching, clipping, whitespace, or incorrect placement | Use the current template and preserve proportions |
| Opaque background instead of transparency | An unwanted rectangle prints or transfers | Export alpha intentionally and inspect the result |
| Unwanted edge matte or stray pixels | Light or dark halos appear on the product | Clean and preview edges against contrasting backgrounds |
| Submitting a mockup as production artwork | Product imagery, shadows, or perspective become part of the print | Separate production PNGs from buyer-facing previews |
| Using ambiguous filenames | The wrong revision may be produced | Use traceable names and version numbers |
| Providing PNG where machine data is required | The maker lacks paths, stitches, geometry, or tool instructions | Include the required companion or machine-specific file |
